Not shown is the heat of the late afternoon……. We dropped about 1500 feet from our camp at Porcupine Meadows and it was much hotter here.

Finally, evidence of an earlier era. #9 wire is strung all over the Idaho Wilderness. It was used early in the last century to connect fire lookouts with telephone service.
