Szczawnica, Poland to Košice, Slovakia

Today we started with a shuttle to this Soviet style relic of a hotel and resort. Slovakia was deep inside the Soviet style communist block back in the day.

This part of eastern Slovakia is very rural and very quiet.

Rolling hills and steep climbs were the theme of the day.

At least this hill was pointed the right direction.

An isolated and beautiful Russian Orthodox Church.

Same church different view.

Jill winds here way up this quiet road.

Small mountains are in our near future.

Switchback on amazing tarmac.

Just ignore those dark clouds and loud claps of thunder!

After an intense 5 minutes of rain on the start of my decent, I managed to dry off by the bottom of the mountain. Luckily it was quite warm.

Spis Castle on the hill with flowies in the foreground.

Poppys!

A closer look at Spis Castle.

After lunch we get an even closer look at Spis Castle. This giant penis warns all potential invaders that if they do, they will be screwed!

This castle dates back to the 13th century.

More warnings to the potential invaders.

What an amazing day in a country which I knew nothing about.
