The next morning we woke up to a beautiful day. Across the valley is the shadow of Bell Mountain.

After yesterday’s hard climb we needed a “pause day”. We head across the valley to Hawley Mountain. Most of the other seniors had already climbed Hawley so we divided and conquered.

After a short drive we arrive at the base of Hawley Mountain. When you are surrounded by big peaks, this 9700 foot peak doesn’t seem like much.

First up we stroll up this old jeep road.

Another glorious day in paradise.

Bell Mountain pops up over the ridge.

Hawley Mountain…..the further we walk the further in the distance the peak seems to go.

This recovery day does not seem to easy.

Tom and Brian making their way through the blocks.

Finally after a couple hours we have the peak in view. Notice the sun dog on the right side.

Tom takes in the summit views.

Hawley Mountain sits in the middle of the Lost River Valley so it has views of the Lost River Range on one side and the Lemhi Range on the other.

Summit views looking down the Little Lost River Valley towards Howe.

Back down we go! In all about 8.5 miles and about 3300 feet of climb, that doesn’t seem that easy.
