On Day 4 we woke up to unsettled weather which was just fine as we needed a rest day. Also today, we planned to transfer to the east side of the Lemhi Range.

I was digging the cloud formations but it forced us to pack up camp quickly.

Not to worry, after packing up camp we did manage to do an easy stroll before the rains hit.

Views in the Upper Little Lost Drainage.

Views looking west to the Lost River Range. Yesterday’s climb is left image, Hawley Mountain.

After a short stroll we decided to head back to the cars and make our hour long transfer to the east side of the Lemhi Range.

When we arrived at our new camp location, the urgency to set up camp was upon us! It was beat the clock for about 45 minutes.

After a pretty hard hitting storm, we were treated to this unique view of the back side of the thunderstorm.

Later on, the skies opened and we had nice views of Diamond Peak. Diamond Peak is the fourth highest peak in Idaho and was high on our to do list for this trip.

Diamond Peak is 12,202 feet tall and is the tallest peak in the Lemhi Range.

Now Birch Creek with Diamond Peak in the background.

A little later, the rains returned. Not shown, the wind…..
