Peak Bagger Summit (Senior Addition – Day 2), Lemhi Range, Idaho

Scroll down to content

Michael headed off for a peak off to the North while John, Brian, Tom and I headed for Bell Mountain. The grind up starts out relatively mellow.

At the ridge, we take our first break and I snap a shot of this cool snag.

Apparently we are done with the dirt walkin for a while.

Photographs just don’t give you a sense of the steep grade.

Tom makes his way up the shoulder of Bell Mountain.

After climbing for a good long while we get our first view of the summit block.

John and Brian continue our ridge climb to the summit block.

Tom plays possum and waits for the summit sprint.

John contemplates the meaning of life.

This summit block is pretty intimidating.

Time to make our way up the block. You can just make out the climbers mid image.

A little further up, a shot looking down as Tom weaves his way up the rocks.

Brian nearing the summit.

Grand views of the Lost River Range.

Brian on the job.

This image shows the ridge we climbed. It doesn’t look too steep from here…..

I dropped back a little early and shot images of the boys near the top.

I’m sitting about 1000 feet below the summit here and shooting the boys on the down climb. John, Tom and Brian are about 100 feet off the summit, mid image.

Views, oh yeah, we got ya views.

After climbing off the summit block we find a protected spot out of the wind and had lunch.

One last view of the summit before dropping in the canyon.

Back in camp the view is not too shabby. Borah is on the right.

Finally, a shot of camp. Zac and Super Dave arrived for the evening to complete our reunion. A quick calculation and I’m guessing that between the 7 men in this camp there are probably about 8000 to 9000 summit climbs. More Idaho summit experience you will not find. Thanks JP for bringing us togeather!
