It was a cool crisp morning and those of you who know me know that I am usual up before sunrise.

Check out the amazing rays coming off shadows of the earth.

More CCC structures around the park, in this case, a drinking fountain and picnic bench….. both non functioning although in a pinch, you could probably make that picnic bench work.

That looks like a lost pine!

Another CCC structure in this case, an overlook shelter. This structure is located on one of the highest points in the park….. about 600 feet of elevation…… above sea level.

A sneak peak at tomorrow’s activities!

These old dead snags against a cirrus filled sky defiantly catch my eye.

This was quite a long hike and provided me a bunch of time to think about my grandfather who died when I was about 3 years old. As I mentioned yesterday, he had talked about this area when my father was younger. This hike was over 4 hours long and I thought about the conversations I would have with my grandfather if he could have join me today… the topics we might cover….. Family, history, his grandkids and great-grandkids?

One final CCC structure on another overlook, in this case, Fehr’s Overlook.
