Costco – The Woodlands, Texas

Scroll down to content

A few days ago, I ordered new eyeglasses at Costco. They were in and needed to be picked up. As many of you know, I don’t have a car at my winter home here in Texas, just a bike and walking shoes. Since I am headed back to Idaho soon and will immediately start some backcountry adventures, I figured that I should do some hike training. I strapped on my hiking boots and headed out on the 3 mile “Spring Texas” hike.

My home here is on the north side of Houston, Texas, one of the largest cities in the United States. One would probably figure that there is little adventure in a 3 mile urban hike. Well, you would be wrong! The common theme here, CARS! Talk about no cycling or walking infrastructure! Let me know if you spot a bike lane or even a sidewalk!

I meander my way through parking lots and back allies. Luckily, there are a couple hospitals along the way if I get run over.

A couple lakes along the way, I should have brought a fishing pole!

This represents the closest thing to a peak in these parts!

McDonald’s!!!! No need to bring snacks on this hike! Yes, this is a cross walk but notice the other side ends in a ditch….. Also notice the crossing light in the small black box on the right edge does not work.

Succsess!!!!! I need a summit hug!
