Every once in a while we get lucky and are able to watch the local smokejumpers train at nearby Bear Basin. The last time was a couple years ago and if you haven’t had a chance to see that one you should check it out here. It’s kinda funny!
The trainees jump out at relatively high elevation and try to land near a flag in the meadow. On the ground there is an instructor evaluating their jump and usually a few spectators who happen to be nearby.
Not bad!
After dropping all the jumpers, Wes, the local forest service pilot drops to the tree tops and someone on board throws out the equipment boxes.
Bullseye! Nice job Wes!
If you don’t remember Wes, check him out in this post when he picked us up back in April at Cabin Creek.
