The next morning was frosty and clear. We were up and had coffee in time to see the moon set over the ridge above Hee Lake. See John’s Trip Report here: http://www.splattski.com/2020/ho_kathys/index.html
Reflections!
Sunrise on Humdinger Peak
Notice the frosty meadow next to the lake. This time of year is wonderful in the backcountry as there are no bugs due to the morning frost.
Ruby checking out the reflection!
It was time to move out for our day hike to Ho Lake. Check out our trip there last year on a different route. Also notice that even though we were there on almost the exact same day, the conditions were quite different: https://davefaitlemonde.com/2019/10/07/ho-lake-payette-national-forest-idaho/
Along the way we pass the nearby Haw Lake. South Loon Peak in Haw Lake! Check out my trip last year when we climbed South Loon Peak: https://davefaitlemonde.com/2019/09/30/enos-lake-day-three-payette-national-forest-idaho/
It was a little hazy this morning with the nearby wildfires. In the distance is the saddle we needed to cross. Ho Lake is over the saddle and around to the right.
Here is the view from the top of the saddle looking east. Lots of layers off into the Frank Church Wilderness.
After a couple of hours, LAKE HO!
Tom enjoying a little fishing….. and catching!
After a good long hike back to camp, John decided to do a little more fishing at Hee Lake while we all looked on.
Sunset over Hee Lake
Tomorrow’s day hike will be up to Kathy’s Lakes.
