Golden Lake, Payette National Forest, Idaho

It is a relatively short, close in hike to Golden Lake but a great destination as few people take on the brutal accent. John, Ruby, and I usually do this very early in the season so today it looks quite different. Check out John’s trip report here:

We came up for a relaxing day of fishing and photography.

I was feeling generous so I allowed John to take an early lead in the fishing competition.

Ruby is still struggling with this fishing thing……”I thought we were mountain climbers!”

Soon she was bugging me to shoot photos, so we went to work. Also, I wanted to allow John a big fishing lead to help with his confidence.

As we were about to leave, I threw on my lucky lure and quickly closed the fishing deficit, stopping just in time to allow a tie, again, helping with his confidence. What a great way to spend a September afternoon!
