June brought in a new element for my photography with the overnight backpacking trips. Here is an image of the full moon as it nears a set with Jupiter just off to its left. I particularly like the long exposures of nighttime photography. This image has a 20 second exposure and with a gentle evening breeze, the combination creates an interesting blurry effect with the tent flap. The other item of note with this image is that for those familiar with my blog, you may recall that I was test driving a very long lens on this trip specifically for capturing full moon images. While I was successful in doing that, I found that I preferred the images captured with my shorter, wide angle lenses and ended up returning the expensive telephoto. Thank goodness you can rent this equipment and try it out before purchasing!
