Now it is finished! My cross country trip in France was quite the adventure. I now have a much better perspective of southern France. My French is better…..I think…. I am now able to communicate on some basic level to most folks here. Between the broke English they all get in grade school and my broken French, we manage to have relatively in depth conversations!!! Prime example is Jerome, whom I met and rode with for a time today. Merci pour notre conversation mon ami!!!!
Scenes from today’s ride:
This department has a ton of these wilderness routes all very well marked!
I love this image because you see this on occasion in France, the very modern and the very ancient! This is a high speed rail bridge, as high tech as it gets! Under the bridge on the hill is an ancient castle! While I was taking this picture, a high speed train crossed the bridge, one of the coolest things I’ve seen!!!! It was going so fast that I tried to switch my camera to video and before I could get anywhere close to making that move, it was gone! Wow!!!
Rhône River
Provence!!!! This is why people from all over the world come here to ride bikes!
Texas Tree!!!!
Finally, here is the first picture I took in Bordeaux, as a broken man wondering what the heck I was about to get into…. followed by my picture of arrival today at the end here in Caromb!
Don’t shed a tear for me because my journey is over, here is the view from my apartment for the next 10 days! :). Yes that is Mont Ventoux!
