For today’s stage, Nicole and I went off script! Instead of riding along the relative ease of the Canal du Midi, we took the route less traveled on the local roads above the lowland canal. We were rewarded with lots of short and some short and hard climbs, a pretty ample headwind, and views galore of the Pyrenees Mountains framing our entire ride to the south. After about 2 hours of hard work, we returned to the Canal du Midi and finished our ride along the relative wind shelter of the tree lined waterway.
