It’s full on smoke season here in Idaho so when we planned on a climb of Pot Peak today it was really a plan doomed from the get go. Prior to meeting up, we decided on a much more mellow hike up the East Fork of the Lake Fork. Since walking in the trees seems much more healthy than breathing air on the open slopes of the high alpine, we made the change.

Despite the slow pace and gentle slopes, we all did enjoy just being in the woods.

Anne and Coco are sporting the latest in hunter orange fashion. Hunting season doesn’t start for another month or so but these girls like being trend setters.

I have many memories on this trail as it is usually used to get places far beyond.

At the confluence of East Fork of the Lake fork and Idler Creek we stop for some lunch.

Art just does it differently!

Coco checks in on Art.

Carl just can’t figure out why we aren’t still walking. You can clearly see that Anne is not happy with Tom’s shirt selection.

There is a sign on a local business that states “Now we all know what a brisket feels like!”.

Not a good sign!
