Burnside Extravaganza! – Payette National Forest, Idaho

I have never been up Burnside Peak so yesterday was the day to get it done……. however, the weather moved in and my scheduled hiking buddy Jenny was under the weather so that adventure was postponed to today.

After a short hike, we were at Duck Lake. Anne and I had just hiked to Other Ducker on Sunday so it was interesting to swing by a couple other Duck Lakes today.

Upper Ducker with Burnside Peak on the Left.

Coco has turned into a mountain climbing machine over the last year, quite Rubyesk.

A view looking down Lick Creek. What a beautiful day! I didn’t see that fishing pole during the photo edit process…..

Peak Baggin! A close eye can pick out Lick Creek Road in the upper image.

Mark makes his way up to the peak with fantastic views of the Lick Creek Mountains behind.

Beaverdam Peak and just on the bottom right is Burnside Lake.

Anne makes her way up on the final approach to the summit.

Burnside Peak!

It was time to continue our extravaganza. Anne proposed a back side approach to Burnside Lake which we agreed that Dave would have not responsibility for any bad route choices going forward. We dubbed it “Anne’s Route”.

Turns out “Anne’s Route was pretty good so we renamed it “Dave’s Route”!

It’s a Bear Grass Bloom Year!

At Burnside Peak, the fishing began.

Mark stalks and lands a lunker! Turns out catching fish turns into a family affair!

Burnside #2 I believe is the name of this one…. or at least what John used to call it.

And Burnside #3.

We find this snow bank then Mark and Coco began rolling.

Summit Lake! This was the 6th lake of the day for those you who are counting! Not too shabby, one peak and 6 lakes!

Finally, we had a 20 minute road hike back to the car, turns out that was actually a good thing as it allowed us to stretch our legs before the commute home. A great day had by all and no fish were harmed in the shooting of this blog unless you count a sore lip.
