First Runner up: Y’all know how much I enjoy astrological photography, this image from Granite Lake in June was one of my favorites from this year. June is the best month to shoot the Milky Way because the earth’s orientation gives the best view of the galactic center which can be seen here near the horizon.
IMAGE OF THE YEAR: This image was shot in early June on a hike to Crystal Lake and Clair Peak. As we climbed the headwall to enter the Crystal Lake Basin, Tom turned on the jets and dropped Craig and I. This is a view I have seen many times in my life in one form or another as my good buddy Tommy leaves me in the dust on a mountain climb, you can almost see a jet trail in his wake! I managed to capture the moment and it hits the top of the list for my favorite images in 2022.
