Platt Peak (Day 3), Payette National Forest, Idaho

On the morning of Day 3, it was time to pack up and make our way back down the hill.

To get warmed up, we took a small hike up to the ridge above Golden Lake. The views of Lower Lake Fork Creek Drainage were amazing. We took a moment to reflect on the trip.

John and I had done this little ridge walk last year and it is a wonderful place to hang out and enjoy the forest.

Mariel soaks in the Lick Creek Mountains.

As does Dakota.

Now it is time to head back down.

Along the way, we stop and let our breaking muscles rest. This was Dakota’s first backpacking trip and she is starting to get the hang of this!

Down, Down, Down!

One final picture of our crew and the autumn colors. It was a tribute which would make John smile!
