After a week of almost nonstop snow, many of our traditional spring hiking opportunities are not available. Dakota, Craig and I headed back up to Jug Mountain Reservoir for one of our winter hiking/skiing destinations.

Hiking this time of year can be challenging as the high sun angle allows the sunshine to soften up the snow on the forest floor. Craig is busting a trail with his snowshoes while Dakota is off sniffing forest smells.

We decided to hike off the trail and along the lake’s edge, it wasn’t much easier as you can tell by Dakota’s tongue.

After a week of snow, it was just good to be out under blue skies!
