On Tuesday, only hours before my arrival back in McCall, I learned that my adventure partner John passed away while nordic skiing with Ruby and friends near his home here in Idaho. Those who follow this blog know what John means to me. I am completely heart broken and crushed. As I am without words, I will give you this image and work over the following days, weeks, months, and years to try and find some sort of new normalcy without him. John, rest in peace, I love you brother!

I’m so sorry! I only knew him by his trip reports and his online presence in the Idaho outdoor community, but I could always tell he was an amazing and interesting man.
