Thunderstorm! Lake Payette, McCall, Idaho

Yesterday’s forecast called for thunderstorms at night so I set up my tripod and camera in hopes for some lighting shots.

About 2:00am I was awakened by thunder so out to work I went. Most of my images looked like this, lighting out of frame or behind the clouds. But I did get lucky a couple of times.

Shooting thunderstorms is a bit of an art and I rarely get a chance here in Central Idaho. It takes a lot of luck on many levels to get it all right. This was really my first effort but I feel like I learned a bunch for the next time.
