For a couple of years now, I have been riding by this white bicycle hanging above this driveway. Today, our group stoped so I could take a photograph. It was then that I realized that many in our group did not know about the tradition of a ghost bike. I should therefore assume that many of my blog readers do not know of this tradition either.
Since y’all are probably stuck at home with little to do but wait for the next Davefaitlemonde post, I shall explain: It has been a tradition now for some time that when someone loses their life on a bicycle, a memorial is constructed, usually at the spot of the accident, with a bicycle painted white. I can only assume here that a person who lived at this home lost their life and this bike was raised in their honor. Regrettably, it is now not unusual to see these memorials.
