I need to spend a couple days in Lewiston so I made a date with my good buddy “Genesee Joe”. Joe is an old farm boy so that means an early start….. given my lingering jet lag and the upcoming warm day, I was defiantly ok with an early start. Joe takes me to his secret parking spot and before O-six-hundred we are on our feet.

Tippy enjoys the early morning light and cool breeze.

What a gorgeous morning but even early today you can tell it will be a scorcher later on.

Photographs never relate the steepness of the climb.

Joe is quite a fascinating charter and I really had some time to dig deep and learn about all his adventures and ventures.

If any of you follow this blog you know about previous climbs of the spiral highway. That climb is located about 1.5 miles to the east.

You can just make out the “C” on the slope just in front of Joe and Tippy.

We talk a seat next to the “C” and soak in the morning.

Tippy decided she needed some water and Joe obliges.

On the way down Tippy leads the way.

Tippy!

When we arrived back at the truck, these friendly fellas greeted us and were asking for an apple….. sorry, no apples…. next time!
