Aurora Borealis – McCall, Idaho

Scroll down to content

Earlier this year I was deep in the Frank Church and we had a solar storm. I sat and watched the Northern Lights without the proper camera equipment and was unable to document the moment.

Not this time! I have been at this location in McCall for 16 years now and this is the first time all the elements lined up and I was able to shoot the Northern Lights. Also notice the Big Dipper on the upper left corner.

What started off as a few flickers of light turned into a bright glow.

Keep in mind I was shooting with my astronomy lens so it was pretty dark to the naked eye. This lens gobbles any light and there was a bunch with the Aurora.

I was shooting not long after sunset so as the session moved on, lights became more enhanced.

It was like a light rain storm.

This one is probably the best of the bunch.

Well, that was interesting!

Good night folks!
