Secech Summit – Valley County, Idaho

Scroll down to content

I haven’t posted a cycling blog for a while and I am sure my Florida friends are wondering if I have fully converted away from gravel grinding. Not true!

Rich and OJ came over early today and we rolled out for one of our local favorites, “Green Gate”. Turns out that Green Gate has been replace with Silver Chain.

After a few miles of nice gravel grinding, the adventure begins. Our steeds take a break after the Brush Creek Crossing.

Rich eats up the sort of single track.

Now for a few miles of cobbles. It looks so much smother in the photographs.

Pearl Creek Road Bridge.

Here we jump on the pavement, so much better!

Upper Payette Lake. Secesh Summit is off in the distance.

Yes, we did have a glorious morning.

Payette Lake looking south.

More single track and Rich stops for a selfie.

If you ain’t hiking, you aint biking! From here we bump back out on the pavement and the throw down to the summit begins. It’s hard to take pictures when you buddies are trying to hurt you. In all, just under 50 miles and about 3000 feet of climb. I was happy that my legs could still turn circles after all the backpacking!
