We generally meet about 8:00 am for our weekly gravel ride so today I made the effort to document the drive over. Sunrise over Escambia Bay!

These fire watch towers are scattered all over Florida. Remember the story behind this one in Idaho? Click here.

The crew gathers in the parking lot and I figured that this might be the last image until the end of the ride. Usually the young bucks put the hammer down early and I end up chasing all day.

Generally, everyone was feeling mellow today so I was able to shoot some photographs. Here Derek throws out his arms and proclaims that he was putting out his solar panels! I long ago suspected he has been riding an e-assist bike. What an amazing morning!

Today’s rest stop was at this small gas station somewhere in Southern Alabama.

The next section of the route involved some degree of adventure.

The adventure deepens and in the background we hear banjo music playing form somewhere deeper in the holler.

We pop out on an abandon bridge over the Conecuh River. It was literally a scene out of Deliverance! I was waiting for Burt Reynolds to pass below us in a canoe.

Dave’s steed taking a break.

Group photo. Me, Derek, Jason, Doug, Doug, Jason, Mike, Travis, and Scott. On today’s ride we were heavy on Dougs and Jasons.

Back on the relatively more civilized red dirt roads of Southern Alabama.

The extremely rare second water stop, this time at a random church.

More quiet roads in Northwest Florida.

One final image of Big Coldwater Creek. What an amazing ride on a beautiful day with a good group of dudes! Thank you to Derek for putting this one together!
