The Blackwater Gravel Grinders were meeting up again this weekend so I changed my travel schedule a bit to make sure that I could tag along. Before the ride, Jason enjoys a moment in the sun to soak up the gorgeous morning.

It wasn’t long before we were enjoying the country roads of Northwest Florida….. occasionally stopping for some photographs.

Who says Florida hasn’t got hills????? The speed these guys fly up the rollers really hurts at times…. I used the photography as an excuse to stop and rest.

Derek crosses a couple old wooden bridges.

After a goodly amount of time, we arrived at Lake Jackson and stopped to take it in. Turns out that Lake Jackson is in Alabama and that it is the largest natural lake in the state. This old fighter jet reminded me of another plane beside a lake in Idaho. Check it out here and here.

More images of Lake Jackson and friends.

After the last few weeks of stoping at some nice delis and coffee shops, today’s lunch stop was a burger and pizza at the local gas station.

This is the quaint village of Florala. After rolling around town for a few minutes we headed back to the start. In all, about 70 miles and over 2000 feet of climb. A fine Sunday spin!
