Time for more whiplash on Davefaitlemonde.com! Sassafras Mountain is South Carolina’s highest point and those who follow me know that I have been picking these off as travels allow. After driving about an hour from Greenville up this really cool road, I reached a parking lot near the summit.

A couple minute walk up this service road and there it was!

After thunderstorms yesterday, the air was nice and crisp. This is quite a high point structure, built for the masses, however, I was here all by myself.

3500 feet, not too shabby but the actual climb from the car was probably less than 100 feet.

Nice landing pad! The brown line down the middle is the state line between North and South Carolina.

Selfie with me standing in two states.

Helpful!

Views! Looking Northwest.

Looking Southish.

Looking Northeast, no wonder they call these the smokey mountains. Why South Carolina after Europe? Good question!
