Post Trip Thoughts – Belgium and The Netherlands

We arrived at the airport this morning knowing full well that a summer low pressure storm was going to probably spoil are day.

Sure enough, a couple hours before our flight, this alert came across our phone and the airport shut down.

A quick check of flight tracker and our incoming airplane which had been circling for a while and was now off to Paris….. After a four hour delay, we did eventually make it back to Texas.

Now a couple random thought about the trip, first, a game the Belgians play with whip cream. (Photo courtesy of Larry). Stand facing each other and then toss a hand full of whip cream for your mate to catch in their mouth.

Next, an image I shot with my iPhone a few days ago showing the local market. This one in Gouda. Markets in Europe are amazing!

Finally, my friend Rosemary asked a very good questions in the comment section of an earlier trip blog. I was touting the amazing cycling, pedestrian, and public transportation systems here and she wondered about the handicapped and elderly’s ability to move. I started to take note and here is what I found. Turns out when you don’t need a car it probably makes getting around much easer and I saw may disabled folks mixing in with the flow. Everything seemed wheelchair compatible. As for the older folk, they just keep moving. It is my observation that older folks are more mobile and less obese since they have been walking and cycling their whole life. Thanks for the question Rosemary.
