Hells Gate State Park, Lewiston, Idaho

Prior to my trip down south, I’m headed up to Lewiston to surprise my dad on his 80th birthday. It’s nice to be at these lower elevations and to get out and enjoy a lovely day.

In preparation for my return to Texas, I have been riding my bike nearly every day on the trainer indoors….. It feels very good to be outside despite the cold temperatures.

This is Hells Gate, it is the point where the Snake River officially emerges from Hell’s Canyon.

This far north the sun angles are very low this time of year. There is a small window around 1 in the afternoon when the temperatures warm up and before it gets dark. The sun sets here about 4:00.

Hells Gate State Park has a few trails and it is fun to rumble around on the dirt!
