I do hundreds of rides, some might say thousands…. I have ridden all over the world…. I remember general things about the rides I do but every once in a while, a ride leaves a mark, it make such an impression that I remember many details…. the temperature, the smells, the scenery, etc. Today was one of those rides! Words and photos can’t express the depth of sensory fulfillment I feel as I post this blog. Today was, in a nut shell, why I ride a bike, why I train long hours when I could be resting, why I’m here now, occasional suffering through repercussions of my accident, indeed, why I don’t quit peddling after such a traumatic accident. I literally took over 100 photos today, its almost insulting to post them as they don’t relate the true nature of this experience, but here goes anyway!!
Leaving Sarlat
Most of the route today used an old railroad bed converted to a bike route
Random Castle in the distance
When the route wasn’t on the dedicated bike path, it was most on roads like this
Back along the Dordogne River
Incredible hotel here in Lacave, scenes from around the hotel. The hotel’s namesake, Le Pont de l’Ouysse which translates to Bridge of the Ouysse River…. currently unpassable!
My hotel for the night, Le Pont de l’Ouysse
