Stage 6 Les Eyzies de Tayac to Sarlat-la-Caneda

Scroll down to content

Stage 6 promised rain but as you can see from the photos, the rain held off until after my arrival in Sarlat.  On the down side, Stage 6 marked the return of the scapula muscle spasms so it was in large part a survival stage.  However, there were moments of breathtaking beauty to go along with the breathtaking spasms.  Luckily, tomorrow is a rest day and I will “endeavor to persevere” !

The small medieval ages town of Marquay.  Its always cool riding through these ancient towns as the roads are so narrow and all the buildings are so unique.

The finishing town today of Sarlat-la-Caneda.  This is a larger village of about 10,000 people.  Like many medieval  towns in Europe, the ancient portion is nested inside the city as it grew around it.  The old portion is preserved and is generally full of narrow streets and lots of small shops and restaurants.  Most of the streets in this area are closed to vehicles.

Tomorrow is a rest day here so I will explore the town and post a bunch of pictures tomorrow.  For now, its shoulder rest time!!!
