Hiking McDowell Mountain Regional Park – Mariposa County, Arizona

After a what has been a challenging period of time I return to posting about my recent trip to the valley of sun. It’s time to catch up!

While winter as finally arrived in McCall, the desert remains a beautiful and green place.

McDowell Mountain Regional Park is a gem during the winter, miles and miles of old man hiking and biking trails.

The camping here is not too shabby and since my son Mikey lives in the area he was able to join me.

Four Point Mountain is the highest point on the horizon. I can hear John’s words ringing in my ears…..”Dave, we need to climb that so we can tell people…….”We climbed those!””

February is the prettiest time of year in the deserts of the American Southwest.

At the top of Lousey Hill, the views of the park are amazing. This park extends for all intents and purposes to the top of that ridge. On the other side….. the Phoenix metro area.

A desert in bloom.

Flowies.

We visited this area in November a year ago and it was very dry. Today one can see that the rains finally came.

Iconic Desert Southwest!
