Normally I wouldn’t strap on skis when I could just hike but today is the first time I have put on boards for nearly a year. Despite the low snow conditions, I needed an easy ski route to start off my winter season.

Tom was taking it easy on me which is something he normally doesn’t do.

At this location next to the Payette River there are no hills for me to crash on so it was good to get the feel of the boards.

Bill and Tom set some tracks as I try to document the situation. Notice the Blue Bird Day. Not much good for snow accumulation but it is nice for recreational purposes!

You might recognize this location for our plant restoration day earlier this year. https://davefaitlemonde.com/2025/10/23/payette-river-rehab-valley-county-idaho/
