Pic de l’Hortus is the smaller peak across from Pic St. Loup. I have never climbed it so today was the day!

For a day where the forecast called for rain most of the day, it wasn’t too shabby!

We decided that some famous American actor probably lives in this French country home.

Looking South towards the Mediterranean Sea and Montpellier.

The tapestry of the French countryside.

Our hike today takes us generally along this cliff ban to the high point in the distance. Although the cliffs don’t look like much, there were some spicy spots along the trail.

Approaching the high point of Pic de l’Hortus.

One can just make out the ruins of Château de Montferrand on the ridge in the fore ground, in the distance is the Mediterranean Sea.

Looking down off the cliffs at a chateau below.

The village of Saint-Mathieu-de-Tréviers.

At the summit we enjoy a moment on this glorious day while scarfing some left over Jo’s Pizza.

Pic St. Loup as seen from the summit of Pic de l’Hortus.

Random dude standing in a good spot. It was a Sunday afternoon so we saw a few other French folks, no other Americans….. in fact we haven’t seen any other Americans this entire trip so that is kinda nice.

Way off in the distance you can just make out Mount Ventoux.

Here is a blow up of the previous image, Ventoux is the Queen of Provence and you can see why. It is about 100 kilometers from this spot.

And here is a grainy blow up of the previous photo blown up from the photo before that. You can make out the tower on top.

Once final image from a great hike on a wonderful day! Back for charcoochie!
