Happy Birthday Ruby! Long term viewers of this blog know that Ruby has been a rock star here. She has since retired from climbing mountains and now lives the good life here in the Mccall area. I miss her very much on my adventures and think and talk of her frequently. Thank you Julie for sharing this photo.
This is one of my all time favorite images of Ruby. She always loved to pose for me, all I had to do was tell her “Up, Up Ruby” and she would look for the tallest rock or stump and patiently wait for me to shoot her photos. When done I would say “All done, good girl” and she would get so excited that she had done a good job. She got so good at modeling for me that often while hiking I would find her along the trail posing on a high spot waiting for her photo shoot. This image was shot in July of 2019 on a backpacking trip to climb some Lick Creek Mountains. Here is one of the blogs from that trip. It was early in the morning and the sun was just coming up on Mount Horrendous. I didn’t use this exact image in that blog because I wanted to save it for the cover of that year’s Ruby Calendar and I wanted to surprise John with it. Happy Birthday Ruby!
