It’s been about 3 years since I last hiked this area out of Fisher Creek Saddle. Despite being relatively close to McCall, it is actually quite remote. This morning we had a gorgeous day with just a hint of autumn.

Up on the ridge, great views of Black Tip Peak (mid image) and Black Tip Mountain (Right image with the snow banks).

Tom works his way down the nose of this ridge.

A mid-August snow bank!

Views looking Southish towards the Lick Creek Mountains.

After a few hours we arrive at Lower French Creek Lake. I have been to the upper lake several times but this is my first visit to the lower lake.

This is the view looking from the outlet of Lower French Creek Lake looking up the basin towards Upper French Creek Lake. We came down from the ridge on the left and as you can see it is quite a spicy decent.

After killing a little time at Lower French Creek Lake we make the climb to the upper lake. Tom starts whippin water.

This is a beautiful and peaceful lake which is very rarely visited.

Looking back down on the lower lake.

The climb out of these lakes will definitely put hair on your chest…. in Tom’s case, gray hair.

One final image looking back at Black Tip Mountain and Black Tip Peak. We are headed back over the ridge on the right. What a great day!
