After nearly a month on the road doing far off adventures, its good to be home in the mountains which I love so much. I was in need of a close in relatively easy stretch of the legs so I selected Pot Peak (not pictured) which is a rarely visited high point above Box Lake but a real treat of a climb.

Today was one of those day that could not be beat, great company, cool morning temps, and not a puff of wind.

After climbing up the Box Lake Trail for a goodly amount of time, Dan, Craig, Dakota, Sadie, and I arrived at the saddle meadow.

Flowies!

The top of Pot Peak is a giant pile of blocks. Down below you can just make out Box Lake.

Looking back down the drainage, you can just make out Slick Rock on the right side of the canyon.

Sadie and Craig take a moment just below the summit.

Craig and Dakota make the final pitch up to the summit. Notice Beaver Dam Peak just to the right.

Craig checks his Tic Tok feed while waiting for Dan and I to join him on the peak. Craig is in the process of moving to a land far away and he will be missed around these parts!

Beaver Dam Peak with Pot Lake below.

Dan joins us on top. Dan is not currently a “peak bagger” but I’m working on him just as John worked on me.

As we head back down I shoot an image with Box Lake. Pretty!

Finally, it’s mid July and smoke season is starting…. What a great day!
