Mickelson Trail – Black Hills, South Dakota

Scroll down to content

Today we are on one of the best rail trails in the country and this one is named after the professional golfer Phil Mickelson or at least that’s what I heard.

This is all you really need to know!

A couple scenes around this particular trailhead.

Quakes!

And they are off! Cue the Benny Hill theme music.

Pretty!

Its another gorgeous day in paradise!

This trail has a crushed stone surface which is not too bad.

Team Michigan flexes their muscles and controls the group.

Davefaitlemonde’s Steed.

Larry and Ziz roll this nice straight section.

Yes, we had some tunnels.

Is Larry on the phone?

Apparently the rumors of Phil were incorrect.

Jill makes an attack and dusts the peloton.

Another tunnel.

This is an old box car apparently.

Pretty clouds.

Larry rolling down the trail near Hill City.

Hill City was the end of our route today and we visited the Cho Cho Museum.

Next up was a visit to the Crazy Horse Monument.

This thing was started in 1948 and still has a ways to go. When finished, it will be the largest statue in the world. I left this project with way more questions than answers.

It will definitely be something when it is done.

Finally, a view from our lodging. More South Dakota fun to come.
