Need a mellow hike? Boulder Lake always fits the bill and with an added bonus, it’s in the Boulder Lake Drainage therefore Tom will be available!

This is a lovely hike that starts out along the shores of Boulder Reservoir. This hike is best done in the Spring, Fall, and during a weekday as the hordes love this area to death. Tom, Susan, and Finn were headed back to Boise this afternoon so we got an early start…. which was good because by the time we finished the crowds were arriving.

There are lots of boulders around here…. Boulder Reservoir, Boulder Lake, Boulder Mountain and Boulder Creek.

Susan and Finn act as my subject matter at this popular photographic spot. In the background is one of the Twin Peaks.

Up we go.

The Boulder Creek Cascade. From here, we take a left turn, do the rock scramble, and head up to the lake.

You can see why this area is so popular. There is a lot of view bang for the exertion.

False Buckhorn Mountain. That is actually not a mountain but a ridge on the shoulder of “Actual” Buckhorn Mountain. Buckhorn Mountain itself sits directly behind False Buckhorn Mountain. A great day and a great way to start off the day!
