Dan and I planned to climb Krassel Knob today the hard way (from the south). It rained all night but things seemed pretty good this morning.

Low light made for blurry movement. Dan and Sadie cross Buckhorn Creek.

At the trail split to Krassel Knob, all systems were a go.

As we made our way up to the ridge the rain started but surely in was just a passing shower.

It was about here that the rain started coming down with authority and the big camera went into the backpack.

After an hour or so it was apparent that the rain was not going to stop.

Further up the ridge, the snow started and even higher up it was starting to stick.

We found a little cover under this pondo and made the decision to head back to camp.

I’ve never been up Krassel Knob and it appears now that it will be a while.

Back in camp as the rain continued, we agreed that pulling back was the best decision. We spend the next couple of hours trying to build a fire, mostly we made smoke.

By mid afternoon, the skies broke and we decided to go for a walk up the Phoebe Creek Drainage.

Things were starting to look pretty nice now.

The best news was that this year the ticks were not too bad.

Finally, one last image of Miner’s Peak with fresh snow.
