Teapot Mountain – Payette National Forest, Idaho

After the Crew Leader College, I relocated to the Camp Creek Campground and met my good buddy Dan and his dog Sadie for some good old fashion hiking and peak bagging.

I’ve spent a ton of time with Dan but it has been a while. Some things never change, we didn’t get more than 100 meters and Dan had to go back and fetch a forgotten item.

Miner’s Peak always looks amazing from the bottom of the canyon. Both Dan and I have early season legs so this mountain and it’s 4000 feet of vertical was not on our agenda for this trip.

The previous few days of warm weather have the South Fork at full banks.

Sadie and need to work on our photography sessions.

Up on the flanks of Teapot Mountain the views open and you can see the Reed Ranch Airstrip.

Summit! At the top we find the signs of an old lookout.

After a few moments on top we head back down.

Checking out Miners Peak.

Pondos and signs of change in the weather.

The Balsamroot was everywhere.

Dan and Sadie checking out the Southfork down below. It was a great mellow opening day of hiking.
