My son Mikey is in town so we are doing Mikey things this week.

Mikey is a WWII navel buff so Jill, Cam, Mikey and I headed over to Mobile to check out this badass battleship.

This ship is very well protected and reminds me of a porcupine, you might say it is prickly!

These 16 inch cannons have a sting, they throw a 2700 pound shell about 22 miles.

I would not want to stand here when they fire.

Inside the ship, there were accommodations for about 2500 sailors, including the galley.

crew bunks,

a brig,

beauty salon,

latrine, notice the forward facing and face to face design? It’s good for encouraging each other.

Of course the boys geeked out on the engine room.

artillery magazine,

sick bay,

and captions quarters.

Higher up on the ship, we get a great view of Mobile Bay.

In the distance, the SS United States which has a lengthy and entirely different story herself…. I encourage you to visit this link and check it out, especially the part about relocating to Mobile.

Also on display at this museum is the submarine Drum.

Check out this B-52!

This is a big plane.

A CIA version of the Blackbird.

Finally, a cruise missile of some sort. This museum and restoration of the USS -Alabama is pretty amazing, if you are passing through Mobile, I encourage you to check it out!
