Yesterday I visited the park’s highest point via mountain bike so today I wanted to visit a high point with a view. After studying the map, I realized that the best view spots are accessed by hiking only. I was not a Boy Scout growing up but my good friends John and Tom were Eagle Scouts and taught me to always be prepared. I had packed my hiking gear for this trip so off I went.

As I climbed up this ridge trail, a rare partial view appeared.

It was a peaceful calm morning and yesterday’s smoke was no where to be seen.

Near the top, a pond, dare I say….. mountain lake!

Around the corner, King’s Chair, the best view in the park.

Looking south.

The elevation at this point was about 1400 feet.

Off in the far distance, more rolling hills.

Back down the mountain, I decided to extend my hike and make a big loop.

Creek images.

This time of year there seems to be a lot of water in the park.

On the final leg of my journey I enjoyed this nice path named the light trail. In all, about 7 mile and 1800 feet of climb.
