VTT Tour de Sud – Florida and Alabama

One of my goals this year was to do a little exploring around the Southeast US. Due to complicated life circumstances and untimely weather, that has been a bit of a challenge this Spring. However, I blocked off this week and headed out.

My first stop was our traditional Saturday morning ride with the Blackwater Gravel Group. I managed to snap this image at the start then hung on the rest of the morning.

Well, the start of my trip also coincided with a wicked storm system the first evening. As the tornado threat reached the highest possible level, I made the decision to return back home for the evening instead of camping at Deadman’s campground.

Not to be deterred, the next morning I arrived at my camping spot here at Bear Lake.

Bear Lake is a sizable pond here in the Blackwater Forest and also home to a few trails.

My buddy Mike (from Florida) decided to come up for the afternoon and spin the mountain bike.

Rolling through the forests of Northwest Florida.

After a nice spin on the 6 mile Bear Lake Loop, Mike declared that he needed a bathroom break….. Speianchi and I sat and rested while Mike rolled back to the campground for a spell.

We then flipped it around and did the loop the other direction.

Cool tree!

This isn’t much of a mountain bike trail but it was sure nice to sit on the VTT and do some forest bathing.

Mike finishing up our second lap. Tomorrow it is off to other mountain bike adventures in Alabama. The forecast looks glorious!
