I have started the mother of all road trips which I have dubbed Le Tour du Sud. The first leg of the trip starts with one of the hardest days behind the wheel. Heading straight west out of Pensacola means about 6 or 7 hours on the “war zone” that is I-10.

After surviving I-10, I found this interesting campground on Steinhagen Reservoir and in Martin Dies Jr State Park.

The images presented in this blog show a peaceful scene, however, it was Saturday evening and as it turns out every Boy Scout and church group in Southern Texas must have circled this place and date for a jamboree.

Even this poor fella was going what the @^%@%!

Sunset!

Clouds and sunset.

I’m still trying to figure out this new camera.

Golden hour Images.

A wide angle shot.

Finally, evening falls early this time of year. In go the earplugs. My revenge will cone in the morning when I fire up the Sprinter Diesel and roll out of the campground about 5:30am.
