Yockwah Peak is a fairly close in peak that I have never climbed. John used to wait until I snowbirded south then climb it and send me lots of pictures as punishment for leaving.

Today, Anne joined me on this traditional late season hike.

The fall colors are just amazing!

Interesting lines in the rock.

Later in the morning, Anne takes off the puffy and models the latest in this year’s hunter orange style.

As we approach the ridge, Platt Peak pops out from behind Snowslide Peak.

On the west side of the ridge, downtown McCall and Lake Payette. Notice that we did not see one cloud the entire day, what a beauty!

Box Lake is below and is one of those sacrificial destinations in the Payette National Forest. As my followers know, I’m not into crowds so I haven’t been there for almost 25 years. On this fall weekday, it was time to return! Also, I have completely surrounded Box Lake this year with previous visits to Beaverdam Peak (image right) and Rain Peak (image left). You can see those trip reports here and here.

Views from Yockwah Peak.

Color!

Box Lake as seen from over 1000 feet above.

Don’t adjust your screen, it was really this red!

Notice the smoke from the lingering fires to the south.

Box Beach!

Finally, look who we ran into! Bill and Sonya are easing into part time retirement here in McCall. As a result, Box Lake……. Hiking 101! I’m guessing you will be seeing these two on future Davefaitlemonde adventures!
