Virgin Mountains Sunrise – Mesquite, Nevada

Scroll down to content

Nicole and I opted for a sunrise hike today. We got up early and headed just up the hill from our rental.

Yesterday the high was about 105 degrees and the forecast was the same for today. Early this morning it had cooled off just enough to enjoy the stroll in a tee shirt.

At our chosen high point, we found some pokey plants and this interesting sculpture.

In the distance, just enough clouds to make things a little orange.

A super close up shows some corpuscular rays.

Looking north into the desert abyss, you can just see the sunshine on one of the mesa walls.

More rays.

Here comes the sun!

Of course Nicole had to one up Zeus.

On our hike back, the long shadows offered Nicole and I a chance to do a usie.
