It has been a couple years since I climbed Jug Mountain so when Anne mentioned she had not been there, that was the only excuse we needed. On the way up the views of nearby Boulder Mountain come into view.

At Louise Lake, the reflections of Jug always impress. Our plan, work around the right side of the Lake and up the right ridge then pioneer a new route down the left side. When I say pioneer, I mean take a new route for me as I am sure Scotty and crew have done that route many times.

A closer examination of Louise Lake with the cool morning mist.

As we work our way up the mountain we look down on the early morning clouds.

The summit approach.

Down below, Louise Lake and the Boulder Creek Drainage. Further off in the distance you can just make out Little Payette Lake.

Near the summit, Anne and I work the boulder pile.

Summit views with fall colors. Far below you can see Jughandle Lake.

Coming off the summit to the east, we get a different angle on Louise Lake.

More boulder piles.

To the south, the recent rains have flushed out the smoke from the Cascade fires.

One final image of Jughandle Mountain with fall colors in the foreground.
