Oslo to Bergen par Train, Norway

Scroll down to content

Today we are training across Norway on what is supposed to be one of the most beautiful train rides in the world.

Much of my view, especially early looked like this as we rode through Oslo and through the many tunnels along the route. Keep in mind that shooting photography from a 70 mile per hour train through a window and with my iPhone is quite a challenge.

Early on, we rolled out of Oslo and into surrounding farm fields.

Drammen, Norway.

Around these parts you don’t need to go into the mountains for ski ares, any hill will do.

Tryifjorden.

More marshmallow fields.

The mountains are starting.

After a couple of hours we started our climb up to the great plateau.

Up higher the vegetation is much different.

Tundra.

Up here, it is winter most of the year.

Check out the gravel road. Turns out it is a very popular hiking and biking route.

Glaciers.

Much of my time was with this view, my reflection in the window as I waited to shoot photographs between tunnels snow sheds.

Click, cool tundra.

Another great view of the gravel route from Finse to Flam.

Feeling a little lucky, Larry and I stepped off the train stop at Vassbygdi for a second to stretch our legs and get some fresh air.

A cool waterfall with some window reflection.

Down lower on the mountain, the vegetation returns.

Pretty!

More lakes and fjords on this side of the country.

Rolling into the town of Bergen.

After traveling for 6 hours and 30 minutes, arrival at the Bergen Train Station.
