Crystal Lake – Payette National Forest, Idaho

Tom invited me to go for a hike to the local favorite Crystal Lake and I later learned it was Susan that invited me because she needed a babysitter for Tom while her and Lucia went for a hike.

Climbing up the Fall Creek Drainage, the rugged canyon walls are quite spectacular.

At the top of the ridge, one gets amazing views of the Middle Fork of the East Fork of the Lake Fork Drainage with the gun notch mid image.

As Susan hits the ridge she has nothing but smiles.

At Crystal Lake, I take my iconic image of this old snag. Its a subject I try to capture every time I come here.

I believe the first time I photographed this old snag was on a snowy day in June of 2018 which was on another hike with Tom.

Reflections.

Lucia had just recently retired and combine that with her birthday next week, she wanted to celebrate with a dip in a mountain lake. Mission accomplished!

On the way back down, Tom and I take in the view of Platt Peak. Appropriate I suppose!
